If you are interested in data assimilation, uncertainty quantification or ensemble methods for geosciences, it is likely that I can find an internship, a PhD position, a post-doctoral position or an engineer position. Even when there is no offer on this page, I may have a position I did not upload, and colleagues of mine should have offers I am aware of. So I recommend that you send me your CV, at vivien.mallet@inria.fr.

PhD position (2016): Uncertainty quantification based on model reduction for atmospheric dispersion

In the context of nuclear crisis management and risk assessment, numerical simulation of radionuclides dispersion relies on imperfect transport models and uncertain input data such as emissions and meteorological conditions. Two key steps are to quantify, within a short timespan, the uncertainties in the computations and to calibrate an ensemble of simulations using the limited amount of field observations when they become available. The PhD offer aims at tackling these issues in collaboration with IRSN.
